The Cherokee County Fire Marshal’s Office is involved in fire prevention and fire protection activities related to both new and existing occupancies. We strive to enhance fire and life safety for all persons who live, work, and visit Cherokee County, Georgia through effective public education and cooperation in the review of land development, building construction, and analysis of fire protection systems. The Fire Marshal staff hopes to deliver a process which is seamless and transparent for the end users in the community and other county agencies. This is done through effective code review of land development and building plans; inspections of new construction, annual inspection of existing businesses, and fire and life safety protection systems. The Fire Marshal Office is also actively involved and evaluating public and private water supplies for effective municipal fire protection. Some of the activities the FMO is involved with include:


Construction Reviews/Permits:

  • Review of Site and Building plan submittals for fire and life-safety code compliance for issuance of permits.
  • Review plan submittals for Fire Alarm Systems, Sprinkler Systems and other Fire Protection Systems for issuance of permits.

Construction Inspections:

  • Conduct inspections for compliance with adopted codes and approved plans (where applicable) for:
    • New construction, Tenant Finishes, and Additions
    • Business Licenses
    • Fire Protection Systems

Special Use Reviews/Permits:

  • Conduct plan review, issue permits and conduct inspections for:
    • Blasting and Commercial Burns
    • Hazardous Materials
    • Tents & Canopies
    • Special Events (fairs, festivals, haunted houses, etc.)
    • Fireworks & Special Effects
